And here is the culprit. Because it has been so dry, they've been drinking water off of the plants every time I water them.

So I found this bottom of an old pot and filled it with water. Immediately, the chipmunk came up to see what was going on.

Then I found this chipmunk drinking the water I'd spilled onto the sidewalk.

So I filled up another pot bottom for him, and then filled up a flower pot urn with water for the birds to use as a bird bath.

The chipmunks in my yard are so spoiled. I told Greg that I'm just trying to save my plants, but really, I feel bad for the poor chipmunks.
