A Brownie Scout was the first camera I ever picked up. It had been my father's. He'd used it while serving in the Army in Korea during the war. I soon developed a real knack for a hobby that has now become my passion.

My sister has that camera now so of course I searched for one which I found in great condition. I will go back to using that camera even with all the photographic equipment I have acquired over the years because it's what sparked the fire in me.

I have always had a passion for photography & having a real eye for the end result! Quick on the shutter & great at anticipating the candid shot. Having since graduated into more sophiscated equipment & finally even giving into the digital age, my abilities are continually being challenged. B&W, wet plate & dark room techniques have been learned & still preferred over digital. Robert Capa, Eugene Atget & Ansel Adams are people I have always considered artistic phenoms with the limited equipment that was available during their time.

What I want to know is how many times you've taken the plunge yourself? Nice capture!
i've dived a bunch of times... this picture was actually taken by my brother because i am the one taking the dive

mikenj One of the extremely few, yes.
Thanks for the visit and knock it off with the turtles!
I have a photo ready that has 350,000 sea turtles trying to escape the Galapagos Islands... on their backs, while sunning themselves and eating fish.. .not regular fish either. Blackened, cajun style fish while sipping margaritas.... on the rocks, not the crappy frozen kind. So, stop trying to stick it to me with the turtle pictures.

mikenj 700mm???? Did you get any shots of Brittany Spears with that thing? You wouldn't think 700mm lenses would be allowed in DC.

I used to have a window and view almost similar to yours while living in Colorado from 1989-1991 and LOVED it. Thanks for knocking the cobwebs loose and jarring the memories!!
