Daniel Boone's final resting place---or is it???

We traveled to Missouri Saturday for a meeting. On the way home, we stopped to take some photos. One of the places of interest, was supposedly, the gravesite of Daniel Boone....below is a little history lesson on this famous American: Daniel Boone was an American pioneer and hunter, whose frontier exploits, made him one of our first folk heroes. More than any other man, Daniel Boone was responsible for the exploration and settlement of Kentucky. Boone left Kentucky in 1788 and moved to West Virginia. Ten years later, he heard the call of the unknown country luring him, this time to the Missouri region. He lived in Missouri the rest of his life, until he died at the age of 85. However, in 1845, his remains were exhumed and he was reburied in Kentucky. Resentment in Missouri grew and a legend arose that Boone’s remains never left Missouri. According to this story, Boone's tombstone in Missouri had been inadvertently placed over the wrong grave, but no one had corrected the error. Boone's Missouri relatives, displeased with the Kentuckians who came to exhume Boone, kept quiet about the mistake and allowed the Kentuckians to dig up the wrong remains. There is no evidence this actually happened, but both the Frankfort Cemetery in Kentucky and the Old Bryan Farm graveyard in Missouri claim to have Boone's remains. And the saga even continues today, as someone stole the plaque on his tombstone in Missouri, supposedly a “scrapper” who stole it for the metal.
