This photoblog tonight isn't about the technical correctness of a photo. Tonight it's about remembering, both for the blessings that happen every day and for my best friend who is nearing the end of her battle with cancer. I'm sad. But, I'm also choosing to remember the blessings God has graced my day with.
My youngest daughter came home from school today with a couple ladybugs inside her emptied out pencil lead case. She and her friends caught them together and they each took at least a couple home to show their moms. The first thing she did was to go to our container cupboard, and pick out a larger container. I poked holes in the lid for her and together we went out in the back yard and picked leaves and flowers for their new "home".
My oldest daughter is getting ready for her senior prom. Her friend that asked her to prom came over today to formally ask her (this was a surprise to her). He attached a note to her bedroom door that said "I choose you for "Take My Breath Away" Prom 2010." She loves Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and he wrote out PROM on her bedroom floor with these. So sweet.
Prom is on April 17th. We still hadn't shopped for Alyssa's dress. So, after Tyler left (Alyssa's date), we went to a nearby bridal store. I really wasn't expecting to find anything on our first trip. And, I really wasn't expecting that the first beautiful dress she put on would fit her perfectly and look absolutely stunning on her. She was wanting a red, flowing dress with some rose work on it. I wasn't expecting we would find that. We did. All of the above happened. She looks absolutely beautiful in it. And, the price was right. Pictures will come at a later date. Photographing the color red should be fun. ;)
One more...this will explain the other picture of my youngest crawling in the grass. We went for a bike ride together tonight, and when we approached this grassy area, we both got off our bikes and looked for more ladybugs. It was fun.
On a day like today, I'm thankful for fun and precious moments.
Tonight, I'm thanking God for His care in the little details of this life I'm living. I am also thanking Him for my precious friend, Cindy. I am going to miss her so much. My heart hurts. Not only for me, but for her dear family. The hospice nurse has said that she has maybe two days left.
Cindy, heaven is going to get a precious gift when you enter there, and Jesus is going to love holding you tight. It means so much to me that you will be healthy and whole. I will miss your laugh, your twang, your directness, our talks, and so much more. Thank you for pointing me more towards Jesus. Your friendship has had eternal value. You are the best.
I know this is kind of personal. But, I also know that cancer has affected many of you in some way or another. I have a new respect for those who fight it, and new tenderness for those who have loved ones with it.
I pray God is holding you close tonight, Cindy. I love you!
What a beautiful post Lisa. Your love for your family and for Cindy just shines through your words and your choice of pictures. May God be with you and keep you. xxx
Sigh.... That was beautiful and very bittersweet. Love you and glad you are a part of my life. Glad you have had such beauty as Cindy come across your life path. God is good. Hugging you as tightly as my imagination can muster.
