I LOVE it Feebs, I've never seen anything like it! If you had not said it's been like this for 4 years, I would have said it can't survive without it's bark, but clearly that's not the case ... I have no idea how it's living without it's skin! I get the tactile thing, that's me too, I see as much with my hands as my eyes... and your b&w is great :):) perfect contrast and details :)

This is a very interesting and elegant looking tree. You know, Portgual is a great producer of cork, which is removed from the cork-oak when the tree is 25-30 years old and then later all 9 years, leaving the trees naked, too.
