In October 2009, New York State celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Hudson-Fulton Celebration. It is said to have been the biggest party in the history of NYC.

We boarded the water taxi at the South Street Seaport.

I'm hoping to make it off the wait-list to board this schooner in a couple of weeks to Ellis Island. :)

We were lectured by a historian who guided us through this grand celebration, pointing out landmarks and showing us humorous photos. By far the coolest workshop I've ever attended.

We traveled around the island, up the Hudson to the George Washington Bridge before turning around.

The boat lingered in front of Lady Liberty for a few minutes.

Despite the threat of rain, it was actually a very pleasant evening.

In October 2009, New York State celebrated the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial, marking the 400th anniversary of the voyages of Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain in 1609, as well as the 200th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s steamship trip in 1807.

A lot of history on the NYC waterways. It's great that you can enjoy so much of it. Very nice pictures, I love the Statue of Liberty.

Wonderful shots! I saw Lady Liberty but couldn't get a clear close up picture from the Empire State Building.
