Welcome to the GREAT world of b/w... my favorite photography! I will pass along my #1 tip: it involves contrast... it is a really rare photo that I don't UP the contrast for b/w, it will really make the shots pop! Well done!

This is something that I should experiment with. I think Jacki (Dolphin) is right. In editing you can increase the contrast slightly to bring the image to life.
