Lesson Learned

2007.09.23

Was out and about and got pulled over. Little did I realize I let my inner blonde come out and I let my license lapse. Under the law I was now an unlicensed driver, no different than if I never had a license and was out driving!

As with all things, it's how you look at them that decides your outcome. I view this as a VERY inexpensive lesson to learn, and under the circumstances was the best possible scenario. Worst case - if I had caused an accident my insurance company would walk away from me and the lawyers would have taken my house, my Jeep, my life savings, and I would have still been paying for years and years to come. Then I'd have to pay my lawyer and be on the hook to fix my own vehicle. $325.-? I may not like it but it's better than the alternative.

LondonShutter Thanks sunshine. The quote I was looking for to start that second paragraph is this one...

It's not what happens to you, it's how you react to what happens to you.

dweiskir Attitude makes all the difference in most situations. I bet you never allow your license to lapse again.

I had the same problem with my auto registration 2 years ago. That $150 ticket was a nice reminder to never allow that to happen again.
