Although already scientifically described in 1856, the soft coral seahorse is the most mysterious seahorse species known from the Red Sea. It has only rarely been observed or photographed by divers or collected by scientist until today. It grows up to max. 2.5 cm (the one on the photos is approx. 1.5 cm!) lives in the Red Sea only at a depth of 20 m or deeper!
I was extremely lucky to find this one (holding on to soft corals by its tail) on a wreck in the harbour of Hurghada at a depth of 22 m.
