About the charms of country life

„How soon country people forget. When they fall in love with a city it is forever, and it is like forever. As though there never was a time when they didn't love it. The minute they arrive at the train station or get off the ferry and glimpse the wide streets and the skyscrapers, they know they are born for it. There, in a city, they are not so much new as themselves: their stronger, riskier selves.”

livelovelaugh A magnificent shot. A fantastic quote. I know the feeling. You can't help but fall in love with such an amazing city. :)

DancingDolphin AND there is no explaining why one particular city! I feel the same about Los Angeles.

revenant Oh wait, I know this place. It's one of those places like Krins where women can't vote, right? Did I ever explain to you why modern biotechnology nearly killed yodelling before it was saved by the Americans? Remind me to do so...

On a slightly more serious note, compare your quote above with the "New Yorker's" famous cartoon of the US and the rest of the world, as seen from the Big Apple.

stormfish i am not a country boy and yet, completely felt the same like what you quote below this urban skyline, when i first saw THIS (and only this) city; i can't but describe it's charm as something magical, irreplaceable, unique. i'm glad you encountered it, too.

later i had to discover i am not born for it, but that's ok - some things have value even if they do not change your life.

welcome back. :-)

ArtBee I like the country! The big cities are not for me. This is a beautiful view from above though.

darfoster I live in a city and can't wait to get out of it for the countryside, any countryside. Although I have been fascinated by some cities, my heart lies in the country, especially in the mountains! Great photo!

????? Welcome back, Monika. I missed you. Gorgeous skyline. I can't say about that sensation as I've never been in the USA or in a big city like that ;-) One day maybe... I'll discover my feeling... and fascination...

soubhagya i am a city person. I know even though i may begin to like the village, enter into a city (Delhi aint so skyscapery) and i feel home. I even enjoy driving in the traffic. My photography takes me to countryside quite often but born and brought up in a city i will not survive anywhere else. :)
