The Didgeridoo Man

2010.08.06
pixel
While hiking in Garden of the Gods a few months ago, I heard the unexpected sound of a didgeridoo. Drawing closer to the low, rhythmic tones I discovered the musician sitting in the center of a stand of tall red rocks.
pixel
I listened for awhile, took a few shots, and told him thanks for the lovely music.
pixel
Last week at the local Farmers' Market I was surprised to see this same "didgeman" providing the day's entertainment.
pixel
I visited with him and he told me that he's self-taught and orders his didgeridoos online from Australia.
pixel
He says it's not hard to learn, but takes patience and practice to develop the circular breathing necessary for playing.
pixel
He not only enjoys his musical hobby, but also gains from it a feeling of peace and satisfaction.
pixel
Nice to have someone share such an interesting talent and allow you to photograph as well!

finbarr Excellent shots Marsha !
finbarr · 2010-08-06: 16:45
astrobrojler I like that sound but circular breathing must be a challenge!
astrobrojler · 2010-08-06: 17:36
lgnelson Great shots! Those things make the strangest sound, and the circular breathing is nearly IMPOSSIBLE, although I've seen a couple of people who could do it!
lgnelson · 2010-08-06: 18:08
girafferacing Stunning set. I like the understated comment about circular breathing - whenever I've tried it on the recorder I've found it damn near impossible!!
girafferacing · 2010-08-06: 18:12
