so beautiful and yet impressing to see them in such hard conditions... great shivering set... in every sense ;-) according to the colorado laws are you allowed to feed them in winter?

I'm glad you don't follow blindly the rules Marsha. I know it's not good to feed wild animals because they should keep away from populated places, but in special situations like snow storms when they can't find anything to eat people should act in a way to save them not to condemn them to starvation, even if that means to bend the law...What's more important after all ? If you don't do it regularly it will be the best compromise. How could somebody say NO to the face in #2 :) ??? ! This is a very special post. Great pictures and story.

Amazing shots, Marsha! You are so lucky to live in an area where these wonderful animals and others come right up to your house! I know they can be a nuisance eating plants in the summer, but for them, I don't think I'd care! Hard to pick a favorite, but I think I'll put #4 into my favs!

Great set. I wouldn't be able to resist feeding animals that would starve otherwise.

Great shots Marsh... especially #3 in mid-flight! And I never knew that deer like stale corn chips... thanks for the tip. Now I know what to bring with me when I next go deer-hunting in the forest. I just hope familiarity breeds corn-tempt !

They are gorgeous. Great captures, all of them, but especially the shot of the fence jumper! We get deer every day foraging in our deer feeder, I mean compost pile!! We have 2 sets of twins right now and 5 babies total. The mamas were born and raised here too. I love to watch them year after year.
