Flying in the Rain

2011.03.11

Shot these while I was in Kansas a couple weeks ago on a rainy, foggy morning. I've been to this arboretum several times during all four seasons and many types of weather conditions, but this was the first time in the rain.

MoMac Wow I love this set , fantastic sculpture even in the rain and you gave the right angles to capture it's beauty . The last shot is lovely too with the flowers in the foreground

mystic1 Ohhhh WOW!! I love that sculpture, very nice

danrav O-M-G! These shots are superb. Your camera work has breathed life into a "breathless" inanimate sculpture! They are "breathtaking" images. #7 brings tears to my eyes as it reminds me of my son Kevin and what he has accomplished!
danrav · 2011-03-11: 12:07
darfoster Great shots, Marsha, and I think the rain certainly added to these images!!!
darfoster · 2011-03-11: 12:20
SADHYA You know, I like the rainy ones even better than the sunny one. I like the limited pallet that the rain gives.
That foot is superb with the rain drops........... well, they are all really lovely. I could go on giving praise - the linear quality of the grasses and the tree in the first....... (can you tell that I like them?)
SADHYA · 2011-03-11: 12:53
McMommy the shot of the hand, taken on it's own, gives me a sense reaching for something unattainable... but the whole set is of course carefree and lovely. I also especially like #6.
McMommy · 2011-03-11: 13:25
IShuttertoThink I think I like the winter ones best, the grass and the rain.....love those water drops.

leocheung · 2011-03-14: 05:15
busybee36 When the sun came out in the last shot, the boy looks very realistic, like he really is running through the flowers.
busybee36 · 2011-03-14: 07:01
girafferacing What a beautiful sculpture. I often think rain makes things more interesting, it certainly worked here! :-)
girafferacing · 2011-03-14: 14:03
????? oh wow, Marsha...these are awesome! Perfect artistic vision and timing too in photographing them in the fog. It is so effective in creating such a dramatic mood, yet as an oxymoron in a sense because the little boy is representative as playful and whimsical....as i mentioned, fantastic artistic vision, part of your "look again" spirit.xox!
????? · 2011-03-14: 14:27

Unchained This is a very well done post Marsha, it's not only about taking pictures from a statue, but you did it in a very specail way, emphazing the surrounding beauty and exression of the statue. My fav. is shot 3!!
Unchained · 2011-03-16: 05:47
