Along the Li River
(Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, P.R. of China)
I will never forget the years that I lived and traveled throughout the wonderful and fascinating land of China. I have always said that it is another world on our same planet. The diversity of peoples, cultures, scenery, history requires several lifetimes to learn.
The longer I lived and traveled in China, I came to realize that I knew it less and less. To use an over-used word in our times: "amazing".
Most of the hundreds of photos I have ranging from Xinjiang and Tibet in the glorious western regions to the more "traditional" Han Chinese areas found in Shaanxi and Shanxi in the central parts on toward the eastern provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong, and Guangxi Zhuang A.R. in the south, to name only a few, are in the form of old photographs and slides: I was there long before digital cameras.
These three pictures are of the few that I have been able to change to digital. The originals are in color, but for personal reasons, I leave them in B&W to show. The effects are the same.
From Guilin city to Daxu by fishing boat.
Look, what I saw.
