Strange Days, Indeed!

2008.02.04
Beavis eating this morning's light snowfall.

Emptied my pockets when I got home... Whoops. Forgot to throw out a syringe again.

It's PLAYTIME!!!

I don't understand what it is about that cushion...

Mid play-bow. He's still wet & muddy underneath from when Fritz let him out this afternoon before work.

So many toys. So spoiled.

It's NAPTIME!!!

Weird day at the vet's office... First we have a guy walk-in - no appointment - who hasn't been in in years. Now, that's not out of the ordinary. Not appreciated, but not out of the ordinary. What was weird was that he said to me, "Boy, you've been working here a long time!" I thought to myself, "Three and a half years isn't that long..." not when there's people there who've been there over a decade. Then I checked the guy's chart. He was last there in 2002. I started in 2004. Uh... I guess I'm not who he thought I was!

Then - dark humor warning - there was a lady who brought her cat in to be euthanized. She was taking him home to bury, so we asked her to bring a box to put him in afterwards. And she did. A ladies size 5 shoe box from a pair of loafers. Approximately 5x8 inches. And it was a 12 pound cat. The torso alone of the cat, not including legs, tail and head, were way larger than this box. I know it's a stressful time, but what was she thinking?! The box my cat's cremains came in were almost as big as this box!

My fat 15 pound cat Gracie would probably try to fit in that shoebox. She'd totally muffintop over the sides, but she'd try her damnedest.

ncshutterbug Hey! I recognize that key chain! :-)

I love the ones of Beavis playing. It's so much fun to watch them when they just go nuts with their toys.

ncshutterbug P.S. What did you do about the box situation? How sad.

Merrit Beavis can always put a smile on my face. He's such a character!!

Beagles3 Whew! I thought I might have to go a day with no Beavis fix!! His muddy wet little underside is cute. Do you wash him off or let it dry then brush the crap out of his fur? Oh yeah, and what do you do at the vet's office, technician? I think that is cool that you work for a vet. I always wanted to be a Vet from young until high school then when I applied for college and got accepted to an AG school in Southern California I freaked out thinking of living away from home and settled for San Jose State University. Got my Mrs. degree instead and never finished anything...... :-(

Beagles3 BTW what did you do with the lady's cat? Send it home in a bag? She just should have had it cremated. I have two cats and one dog on the shelf and as a matter of fact I have a bit of my nephew there too. It is a real cremains shelf!!

lorinalynn We keep appropriately sized boxes in the basement at work. Kitty ended up going home in a Girl Scouts Cookies box. Well, the box the boxes of cookies come in, not the box from the cookies themselves! Although, the size would have been similar to the shoebox.

Mermaid haha, I so know about the syringe thing. I have a whole drawer in the kitchen FULL of them. And surgical instruments, suture materials, vaccine vials, and other scary things. It's even spilled over to my car. it's an occupational hazard that Joe has learned to accept.
