Theme: Far Away Lands

2008.03.21
Poor little Ra recently fell and broke the plume from the top of his head. :(

A seriously pissed off looking Bastet.

A papyrus.

A 1912 print of Cleopatra found on eBay.

Another vintage print, I think from 1908? But for being an Egyptian, she's awfully pale. She makes ME look like Miss Hawaiian Tropic!

An "ancient" whiskey bottle, from all the way back in 1970. Oooh.

Bust of Nefartiti. Doesn't everyone have a Nef-head in their living rooms?!

The monkey has resource guarding issues. Better call the Monkey Whisperer. BTW, the old book is Don Juan by Lord Byron.

A sphinx, and half a wedding picture.

Buddah, with the other half of the wedding picture.

Monkeys! I'd love to find something with Hanuman the Hindi Monkey God, just because I love the phrase "Hindu Monkey God."

A Chinese Foo Dog with a striking resemblence to Beavis and Mr. Ball. (Mr. Ball seems to be MIA.)

Monkeys and elephants are a recurring theme.

Having a house that rivals the Addam's Family in it's absurdities has it's good points. I can do a post about far away lands by just visiting the living room. :)

I have a lot of weird collections/obsessions. Black cats, roosters (and chickens & peeps), monkeys, 1940s pinup art, vintage advertising, and ancient ethnicities & mythologies. My living room was initially all ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian, but recently I've been picking up other items with Chinese, Indian, Moroccan and African vibes.

Yep. Our house is a museum, when people come to see 'em.

Beagles3 Wow, lots of really interesting items. I love to see all the things that folks collect. I am sort of in a beagle rut right now.....

ncshutterbug I love the collection, Lorina! I especially love the vintage prints and the old book. Way cool!

I always think of you when I see monkeys and Hello Kitty. :P
