Family Dogs

2008.03.24
Chester von Wigglebutt, my parents' dog.

Mishu, my brother's dog, who stole one of Chet's chewies.

He has a fantastic smile.

Chet, on the other hand, looks like an ink blot test.

He never stops moving. Ever. And his tail never stops wagging.

Chester and Mishu playing.

More playing.

In my mom's garden.

I need to get some crocus bulbs for next year.

"YOU WENT TO VISIT OTHER DOGS WITHOUT ME!?"

"HOW COULD YOU?!"

A walk with Daddy appeased the Beav.

AND he found a tennis ball!

The trail we walk runs behind the tennis courts in the park. Some people are really, really bad at tennis, I guess.

I got distracted by a robin...

And Fritz and Beavis didn't know I wasn't there.

"Don't care. Got a ball."

Pictures taken yesterday at my parents' house, then after we got home.

Chester, my parents' dog, is the world's greatest, but most unphotogenic, dog ever. He's fifteen, and still acts like a puppy. He never stops moving and his tail never stops wagging. One of their neighbor was just saying to them, "We moved here fourteen years ago, and Chet was running around the yard then. He's STILL running around the yard. How old is he?!"

My brother, his wife, and two of my nieces stopped in to visit my folks with their dog Mishu. Sshh... don't tell my brother, but Mishu is supposed to be a Shih Tzu, but looks more like a Pekingese to me. Regardless, he's very sweet and adorable. I haven't seen him since he was a pup, and he's about two and a half now. Mishu was one of the deciding factors in me getting a small dog myself. I wanted a BIG dog, and was leaning towards getting a retired greyhound. Fritz wanted a small dog, and always talked about his grandma's Peke, Ming.

Upon meeting Mishu as a pup, my resistance was weakening. Then we had a string of very sweet and funny Pekingese at work, and... it was all over for me.

Now, I can't think of any dog that's a better match for my lifestyle. Playful and energetic, yet independent. Loves to go for walks, but tires out at about the same point I do.

I still love greyhounds, and still want one someday, but it's nice having a more portable dog. And one that only eats about a cup of food a day. And one whose poop is about as small as cat poop.

ncshutterbug Love these! It's funny how Beavis is so obsessed with balls. My parents had a cocker spaniel who was also obsessed with them. They had a compost pile that was fenced in, and once Mom threw an orange in there. Her dog got so upset, because he thought a ball was in there and he couldn't get to it.

mrutherford22 Oh! What a fun story. I love Beav's angry pictures when you came home from "Cheating" on him. Your comments are always so entertaining. Hope you had a nice weekend!

Beagles3 Great photos. Chet is a doll. He looks like a shaggy old man face. I love the pictures of Beav upon your return.

debbyfaye Mishu looks awfully big to be a Shih Tzu. Is she fluffy or pudgy? Beavis always looks so dang happy. Chet is adorable as well.
