Birds, flowers, squirrels, rocks and a small fluffy dog

2008.04.26
Some goldfinch shots from yesterday evening.

I'm very happy I moved the feeder close to the house.

Very, very happy. :)

From this morning's walk... my neighbor's lilac is starting to bloom. It smells amazing.

A robin after her equivalent of a trip to Lowes.

More flowering trees along the trail I walk Beavis.

I don't remember them blooming this much last year.

I'm pretty sure this is a crabapple. The one in my yard isn't ready to bloom just yet. A few more days and it'll be poppin'.

Until then, I'll enjoy the sights and smells of the ones on the trail.

A little family of grape hyacinths, growing wild above the creek.

I took a tote bag with me to bring home some of the rocks along the creek for my garden.

*GASP!* "Is that a ball!?"

"No, Beavis. It's a rock."

He didn't believe me. I made the mistake of teaching him to sing/howl on command, and he does it when he wants something. Walks. Food. Treats. Toys. Balls. Rocks that look suspiciously like balls.

"Let me serenade you... Rooorooooroooooroooooooooo!"

"Uh... Mom? I'm singing. Give me the damn ball already!"

This is what all the fuss was about.

Almost home, and I spotted a squirrel.

He spotted me, too, and climbed a tree.

And climbed a little higher, not taking his eyes off us.

Another day, another finch.

"Pay attention to me! I'm cute, and I have a wuzzle ear and a snaggle tooth."

Grumpy.

Some of the rocks along my flowerbed. Eventually, I want the entire border to be collected rocks. It's currently a border of granite bricks I found on my property when I moved in. I want something more natural looking.

It's only a little after 9am, and I'm already wore out.

I started the day with a walk with Beavis. I've been meaning to start picking up rocks from by the creek and bring some home to put around my flowerbeds. I brought home about 6 today. Carrying about 20 pounds of rocks uphill about a half mile? Let me tell you. That's gives your workout an extra kick.

Got home, sent Fritz off to work, then mowed the lawn, watered the plants, put the new rocks in place, did a little weeding... and I'm spent.

ncshutterbug That robin photo absolutely cracks me up - as does Beavis singing for the rock. The bird shots are beautiful.

Beagles3 Well, you have done it again with some spectacular photos. The bird are so colorful. I am glad you moved the feeder closer to the house too!

The squirrel is a crack up in the photo where he has one paw holding the tree. #18 like he is waiting on a street corner for a friend!

And my favorites! All of the Beavis pictures. He is so silly about the rocks thinking they are balls! #13, #14, #15 all so cute.

mrutherford22 Great photos! I think you've inspired me to get a birdfeeder. You get the best shots. And I love the grumpy one of Beavis. He's just so cute.
