Too much love!

2008.06.12
Oh, I'm sorry, Pippin... did I wake you!?

Fergus is getting so big. I think I might have twisted my back or neck weird moving him from my face dozens of times in the night. I'm a little stiff and achey.

Mr. Beavis posing pretty by my snapdragons.

I think these are called sundrops? They're one of the few flowers that don't get choked out by the indestructable mint.

I have two of these moss covered planters... one on my back porch railing and this one under my bathroom window. A sneaky little chickadee has been stealing the moss off them. Cuz there's not enough nest building materials around, or something.

Ears and tail a-flying, Beavis runs through the yard.

Round two...

Finally, on round three, he notices, "Oh, look! A ball!"

Pippin and Fergus. They'll be the death of me yet.

They love me too much, and won't let me sleep at night. They're always rubbing their cold, wet, whiskery noses against my face at 2am. I love that they're so affectionate and sweet, but... I need my sleep!

I don't have a door on my bedroom. I have heavy drapes over the doorway to contain the cool air from the A/C. I like having the cats sleep in bed next to me. Gracie, my 4 year old, snuggles nicely and quietly alongside me most every night, all night. It's comforting, and nice and warm in the winter. Plus, if locked out of the room, I just know they'd yowl and scratch at a door all night.

When Gracie was young, she'd wake me up in the night, but mostly just making noise. I used a squirt bottle on her, until I realized that she liked the squirt bottle and was waking me up TO BE SQUIRTED! Gracie's kinda dumb.

I don't want to punish Pippin and Fergus for being loving and affectionate. They've come a long way from the scared little ferals who'd hiss every time they saw me. And the logistics of squirting them when they're right in my face would be kinda difficult anyway. Maybe I'll rub bitter apple all over my face before bed. I'm sure my husband would love that if he tried to steal a kiss.

Mostly, though, I'm just whining. They'll grow out of it, eventually, right? Right?!

In other kitty news, Gypsy, the six year old former feral and resident psychokitty, licked Pippin on the head today! She growled a little while she did it, but it was licks. Not swats. Not bites. Not hisses. Licks. That's really something, since she won't go near Gracie without smacking her in the head.

Beagles3 Oh, such great pictures of the kittens!! My Leila is getting so big too. We still keep her crated when we sleep so she can't escape through the doggie door or something while we sleep. She is always purring. Very happy little girl. She does well with the doggies but she loves to run into the living room that is baby gated off fromt he dogs. She thinks it is all her own space! Now I have to get a litter box in the house outside of the one in her crate. Then she will be able to stay out longer periods of time without worry of an accident like on the couch the other day!!

I love the action shots of Beavis! He is so fluffy and funny to watch running! Love that crazy tail.

mrutherford22 I feel like your blog is an animal soap opera!! I'm always tuning in to see if Beavis caught the bus finally...did the kittens destroy a household plant...who's getting along and who's getting in fights....who's being naughty in bed ;) and so on. Love that first shot of Pippin and Beavis running through the yard. Hilarious!

ncshutterbug What a great shot of Pippin. His face almost looks Siamese there. #6 of Beavis is great, too - so happy!

About a month ago, there was a clump of Sugar's hair that got caught in a boot scraper we have on the back deck. It was there from a recent brushing (her hair goes everywhere, so we brush her outside). A chickadee kept coming up and grabbing bits of it for its nest. I'm sure it was the softest nest around!
