New 400D!!!

2007.02.01

Today was my lucky day as I picked up my new EOS 400D! Wasn't I the lucky one!

So dinner was put on hold, the cat didn't get fed and the dogs didn't get walked as FaTmAn and I headed for the hills to have a play.

Here are just a few pics.

The first is from an old set of cattle yards next to the railway. The second is some bark on an old gum tree near town. The third is the FaTmAn hard at work taking pictures with the old EOS 300D (which he has now claimed!) and the last is one of jpfomoz's dogs, Benson.

rcharris Congratulations on your new serious toy! Great shots, compositions, texture. The bark is just superb for texture. Benson appears to approve, albeit in silence.

deleted062007 WOW what superb shots!! I was looking at the Canon 5D 12.8MP - the body alone is about $4000 Cdn - please keep me informed on this camera and some of the ADV and DIS - I will look at your shots to determine if this investment will be worth it. If I change from my Canon F1 - I generally go to the TOL of the next technology - but I do not want to re-mortgage my home to buy a camera!! Canon rules!! I will be following your progress and your TECH INFO. Thanks Dave --- Art

losalamos666 A 5D here in Aus is around $5000 AUD. The only thing missing from the 400D is a spot meter. I looked at a 30D but couldn't justify the extra $500 to get a spot meter. When I start to make some money out of photography I will treat myself to a more professional camera! In the mean time I'm going to have a ton of fun with this one :-)

deleted062007 Good rationale - I cannot justify the $4-5K (with lens) at this time - so I'm sticking to film and the F1 - but I usuall buy TOL - a lifetime investment. Have use FTb, AE1 & F1 in sequence for 40+ years. I've enjoyed the older FTb the most because of it's stop-down-metering "manual" feature. This maybe my last purchase - so I have time to decide. I will have tons of fun viewing your work - Txs - Art

jpfromoz Which sin group does jealousy fall into...? Nice pics. Really sharp. Did you put the dog out for me?

Jannie Wow! I certainly wouldn't give 100% credit to the camera. I think you had just a tad bit of influence with these shots. Great set & great shots! You've got a really high bar to set to stay abreast of your very talented son!!
