funny pictures aren’t quite serious - once said jokingly an american photographer, who was supposed to exchange ideas with Yogi Berra when shooting landscapes in the Yellowstone national park. an even more serious photographer added: intentionally funny pictures that remain funny are hard to make

i was sure, there must exist at least one among my sleeping images that i still find funny after so many years. by proceeding backwards i went back to the 2oo4 folders that contain scanned color negatives, where i finally found the unintentional but easy smile

Mark Twain said that analyzing humor is like dissecting a frog - both die in the process. before the frog would die i must tell that the photographer of the shot above is part of the joke, and that the yawning does not ridicule the subject. it ruins the photographer's efforts when executing the commission by the neighbors for a formal family shot in their garden

well, this Is definitely a funny shot... but i guess it wasn't intended to be that way. i don't find any of these people ridiculous... except for the wish to be serious at all when you have a family so diverse and numerously alive... :-) mawey · 2011-09-05: 07:07
