my brother (a not retired yet lufthansa pilot) did take me once on a similar trip with his small plane over his town of mainz and the rhyne; despite the fact that i almost vomited due to the unexpected "air holes", it gave me such a thrill to see the world from this heightened perspective; i think we all ought to be astronauts. he doesn't look very retired, your friend! .-)
