"... how a young man who never graduated from high school, never received a college degree, living in a small town in the poorest state in the nation, all the while balancing a growing family of dependents and impending financial ruin, could during the Great Depression write a series of novels all set in the same small Southern county — novels that include As I Lay Dying, Light in August, and above all, Absalom, Absalom!... "
— William Faulkner, American writer (1897 - 1962), was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature for the year 1949

Nychthemeron that's something called talent, something we are born with (if we are lucky.. or unlucky, depending on your point view).
...you've been visiting some famous locations lately!

DancingDolphin Mmmmm.... #3 straight to my favorites.

stormfish what an unexpectedly mundane place... in my mind, faulkner owns a palace, a mansion with 120 bedrooms and a kitchen as large as the vatikan's museum of stolen art, and here i look at the reality of his flat roofed, miserable house been eaten away by termites.

gloria mundi.

xabolcs ...mesés... vagy példabeszédes?

rmjannette these photographs of faulkner's home feel sturdy and strong with a lot of history to me. it somehow makes sense that he could write such a amazing things with this as his surrounding. maybe it's the strength of the trees.
