Isolation is a dream killer ... I wonder if these people are dreaming and if yes, what about? Brave and great captures... love the extreme contrast of the last one. I really admire that you dont look away, instead, you remind us.

We rarely see posts like this. It reminds us to be grateful, everyday. The first one is my favorite. The depth and sharpness of the photo gives it an almost 3-D look to it. The second one is very emotional, and the last one is fantastic - the white frame around the dark woman makes it very interesting to look at. GREAT post! :)

I think you should have kept the look in the third picture aswell, the two first are very nice, but I think the last one is too exposed. But a very nice set!

All the photographs are evocative—did these folks pose for you? Did the man in the second photo agree to be photographed? Something makes me uncomfortable. Perhaps it is the situation or perhaps it is that I am staring.

The shots made me grateful for who I am and how I am, yet also grateful to know there are many differing peoples in this world. I agree with photopoet--I feel uncomfortable, unexplainably.

I had to come back... because of two reasons. First, I read some of the comments above (fe. Photopoet) and his reaction that he feels unconfortable. Second, our neighbour nurses strong handicapped people some days. I think Jamie already felt, that this boy (does not react to his environment at all) is different than others, but he talked to him and tried to play with him like with any other normal children. And this moment I understood, what the people in your post dream about. To be normal or at least to be treated normal. That we look at them we would look at others, without a grinse or pity on our face. No, we cannot change the world, there will be always poor and sick. But we shouldn`t look away. Because if we do, we isolate them. Feeling unconfortable is normal. It comes probably from shame, from pity. It is ok. But because of this, we should not walk to the other side of the street, when we see scenes like your shots above. I am convinced, you did the right thing. You did not look away.
