New Theatre Fascade (#2)

2008.06.29
P.F. Changs

Regal Cinemas

This was origially a mistake. I was shooting in AV mode and forgot that I left the camera at 100 iso. So the exposure was super long. So halfway through I brought the camera back towards me. For some reason I still like it.

This time after the movie, I used my new wide angle lens to take a picture from a different perspective. Instead of getting a perfectly straght shot like the one I did with my 50mm lens, This one has that wide angle distortion. I think this distortion can be useful if used properly. These were all shot at 1600 iso handheld. I had to be as still as a marksman to take these shots. The first one was a 0.5 sec exposure and the 2nd was a 1/4 sec exposure.

vollenda Very cool set. There is great detail in the sky and the buildings. I like the last one too. The bands of light(?) are intriguing.

jameswaters really impressive clarity for hand-holding such long exposures! but... i still like more the first from your previous post (the mailbox) as a rockstar wide-angle.

Cherax Sometimes a bit of creative blurring can really go well. Don't know how you manage to hand-hold shots at that speed.
For a good article on limitations of wide angle lenses, have a look at this site (forget the exact spot).
Not sure what you mean by wide angle distortion. I thought 50mm was neutral?

Madoc Half a second and still that crisp?! Did you ever thought of becoming a surgeou doctor!?
Impressive for that, but of course also for the colors, light and movements. These new lens results are really promising. Can't wait to see what youMll be coming up with now.

MarcoCastagnaro The result is superb. I'd give some more at the first one. The sense of movement is so real...
