Softening the Harshness

2008.07.04

Right now we are in Amherst, MA. At this hotel there is alot of modern art. I just wish some credit was given to the artists since none of their names are displayed. This is an example of such a work. This can be found in the hallway stretching from one end of the hotel to the next traveling alongside the pool.

The entire room ny itself is angular and very uninviting. The tall rectangular room is not comfortable and seems hard. The pipes and beams are exposed. But this sculpture of what appears to be cloth stretches from one end of the room to the other in multiple sections. It softens and adds depth to the space. It also adds a whimsical cieling akin to clouds in the sky.

davids Super shot - the angles and shapes are perfect as a b/w shot. Nicely done.

Cherax Yes, a great jumble of angles. The B&W works well too.

vollenda Fanatastic b&w. You caught it beautifully. I was thinking of clouds before I even read your post.

miguelcruz Cuando conmueve la arquitectura, el artista ha conseguido humanizarla
