Music and Photography

2009.02.10

On my way to work today I was listening to the local classical music radio station. When they announced the next song they explained that the musician, a pianist, as being of chinese decsent. I then paused in thought and thought of the way ideas could be communicated through music without knowing the language of the artist. This similarily can be found in photography.

Ideas are expressed in photography visually. Through colors shapes, composition, facial expressions and anything that can be recorded visually, ideas are communicated across cultural and language barriers.

Just as music is a universal language so can be the art of photography.

This image is another one of the pictures I took using expired x-ray film. I love the low-fi look of it.

I also tried to run a roll of regular medium format film throught the automatic developer. To my surprise, it turned out great! This will cut down the costs of using film dramatically. Instead of spending $6 a roll for developing, I can do it for free.
