Outside the Midtown Tunnel

Lots of cops for crowd and vehicle control
|
Thousands of people lined 34th Street, after midnight, to wait for the elephants!
|
Then the cops on bikes arrived.
|
|
Everyone is getting ready. The elephants are coming!
|
The circus clowns entertained us first.
|
The first elephant was in sight.
|
Nine more smaller elephants followed, linked tail to snout.
|
It was amazing watching elephants trot through the streets of Manhattan.
|
Then horses and ponies followed.
|
The entire parade lasted what seemed like only two minutes! But what great fun!
|
Early Tuesday morning, I stood on 34th Street, outside the exit of the Midtown Tunnel, to witness the elephants that were on their way to their next circus gig at Madison Square Garden. The rumor I heard is that they can't cross the east side bridges, so they have to walk through the tunnel. It was fantastic!

very nice.... خیلی جالب هست. انگار یه مراسم خاص هست. حضور فیل ها وسط خیابون تو شب خیلی جالب تر هست. گو این که شما فارسی نمیدونید. ولی من هم متاسفانه انگلیش خیلی حالیم نیست. باید نظر کاملم رو فارسی بنویسم. موفق باشید

One of my favorite childhood memories is of my family going to NY to see the circus. Thank you for the post. Brought back some very old and precious memories for me!
