Our very own garden!!

2008.05.18
First we had to dig up the sod

Then we tilled up the soil and pulled out the sticks, rocks, roots etc.

Topped it off with a layer of good topsoil, then covered it with a planting mix with fertilizers.

Then came the plants! Honestly, they're not spaced as far apart as they should be, but we didn't realize just how much we had until the bed was already done. Hopefully they'll still thrive and we've learned a lesson for next time! :)

Up goes the fence around it and the trellis inside for the berries. We also bought bird netting to put over the top, but we haven't put it on just yet.

And there it is! :)

Joe and I got ambitious today and took on a project we've been talking about for a while... a garden!!

We planted peppers, squash, broccoli, herbs (cilantro, chives, parsley), strawberries, blackberries & raspberries!!

We're total beginners, but we figure this is our "trial" year to see what works best for us. Hopefully next year we'll expand and have two gardens - one for fruits & one for veggies!! :)

Liselaime Aww, I'm jealous. I can't plant a real garden this year. Yours sounds like it will be delicious in a few months.
