After much deliberation, I signed up to be in the Bone Marrow Donor registry during their promotion to get more members. Because I signed up during the promotion, it was free, whereas normally they have to charge a fee to do your typing.
The final push that made me do it was when I shot a wedding two weekends ago in which the groom has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. He is a truly wonderful person and to think that I could help someone like that, well, it was enough to let me know it was the right thing to do to sign up. To be honest, the thought of actually donating is very scary to me, but the reward of possibly saving a life makes it totally worth it.
So anyhow, my typing kit came in the mail today, so I did the cheek swabs, packaged it up and sent it back. So I'm officially in the registry now, yay!
