So photoblog made
Digg's frontpage this morning. So being the server guy and general dork I am, I decided to post some screenshots of how the server is handling it. Now I do admit we are not running the best hardware in the world since we just started up but I am very happy with the results so far. Our code, mysql queries and database design must be very good if the server is handling all the requests like she is.
So the first picture is the digg entry on the frontpage.
The next one shows a vmstat command and a uptime. We are seeing a bit of load going on but I think its mainly due to i/o requests being that we are running on IDE drives. I'm actually very surprised as of posting this the server is still very fast and responsive.
UPDATE
10:30am: Looks like we are up another 400 diggs and the server is still cruising.. nice!
1:40pm: well we are almost at 1000 diggs and no harm on the server.. we survived!
