A Swedish tradition, midsommar or midsummer.
We celebrate the longest day. People always want to eat outside, even if the wind is blowing, there are lots of mosquitoes and you're afraid of spiders. Therefore the weather of midsummer is the main topic for discussion for days if not for weeks. A rainy midsummer is worse than a Christmas without snow. Even though Christmas is a more important holiday to most people here!
Typical food to eat during midsummer:
Cake with whipped cream and strawberries, different kinds of pickled herring, salmon, new potatoes
