They have survived and started to regrow quite well.(We had snow in August, very unusual and they of course did not like it at all).
Young Rhubarb plants have been put in between the trees cos I heard they help make soil more acid which Avocadoes are supposed to like.
Not too sure where the potato came from tho.

The hedge has been trimmed back so I can get behind them more easily
I have laid lengths of old tree trunks and branches around these babies to try to imitate a forest floor and there is quite a bit of leaf fall from the tall evergreen tree that grows in the hedge.
The strawberries here dont produce many fruit- maybe too shady for them.

The chooks and I worked together to clear out the wandering jewel weed that comes through the hedge from the neighbours side.
This got raked into piles and left.Every so often I would rake it along the hedge one way then the other til it was definitely starting to die and worms were moving in.
I fed the chooks their afternoon feed of wheat here for afew weeks and they continued to turn it over for me.
When it was all brown I flicked it around these young Avocado trees to help mulch the roots.

There are three young ones with an old established tree to the rear.
One young one died back but has regrown from below the graft.
The mature tree lost all its fruit and most of its leaves following our day of snow but has recovered now.
