Our first ever lot of soy beans.
These are growing between two rows of sweet corn. Its sort of an ooops area too because I had to rescue them from where they all were growing and transplant to this spot when my no weed experiment went horribly wrong and we wound up with a quarter of what was originally planted out. We havent needed to weed this section of the garden which makes me feel better. |
First lot of small green eggplants.

Another oops area.
This trellis was supposed to be growing Lablab at the poles on each end and rock melons in the middle. They sulked and a Principe Borghese tomato self sowed at one end effectly blocking out 2 melons, the other two werent doing well so they were replaced with gherkins which have done much better. |
The sweet corn finally grew to a civilised height, they tassled up at 2 1/2 feet instead of 4 feet.
I had sown a pole bean with each corn plant so they Had to grow to a decent size to act as a stake for the beans. |
Another oops area.
For the first time ever the chooks completely demolished the Herb Robert I always grow here. This is especially annoying not just because it was so unexpected but that they had set seed and I was waiting for them to ripen up so I could collect them to use as a weed to fight weeds in an area that is quite weedy over winter. Now I have to go hunting all over the yard to find enough seed to do this. |
