Day 16: City Bollard

2008.01.16

This crossing bollard is just outside my flat and every night on the way back from work I think about photographing it - and thanks to pushing myself with the 365, I got around to it.

I'd captured the one (and a traffic cone placed over a light where a bollard was previously) several years ago - I love the smooth luminance of the bollard in contrast to the dark streets and harsh lights.

So far, the project is getting me to try lots of different things - mostly very quickly with a view to going back to them later; I suppose we'll see over the year if I get around to it!

ncshutterbug I saw these in Ireland and Scotland, but never knew what they were called. You learn something new every day!

mjsonline Bollard is probably the correct term - I appended city onto the front because the graffitti on the side.

They are common all around the UK to display traffic islands (usually pedestrian crossings) in the middle of the road.
