I was really fortunate with the moose like that. I got done climbing Katahdin the day before, and I decided to go look for moose early the next morning. You have to get to the gates at Baxter State Park by 4 in the morning to ensure you have a parking spot at the relatively small Roaring Brook parking lot. So, I set my alarm for 0245, left at 0330 and got to the gate by 4... and then just waited till they opened up at 0600. By 0630 I signed in at the rangers station and then walked the half mile to Sandy Stream Pond. Within 5 minutes of getting there, the moose came out. I shot till they left, and was back at the rangers station to sign out by 0730. I couldnt have paid the moose to do any more than that for me. It was a fabulous trip...
