Take Me Home....

2008.05.24
My little cousin Chloe enjoying her time on the rope swing.

My little cousin Jordan enjoying her very own purple flower lollipop.

And my little cousin Haleigh enjoying her turn on the tire swing.

Haleigh shows off those sassy gold shoes!

Haleigh's teeth and tongue are not always blue. She had been enjoying her own blue flower lollipop, but was seperated from it for a turn on the tire swing.

Look at those plaid dresses! They had just gotten them on a vacation to Disney World.

Yes, that blond is all natural.

Chloe giving her little sis a push on the swing.

And yes, that strawberry blond hair is natural too. You should have seen her mama when she was 6 years old. We called her Red.

Haleigh takes a moment to stop and smell the flowers.

Cousins make the best of friends.

The girls loved Sasha. Sash was very well behaved when they held her...as you can see here though, her patience had reached a limit. (Yes, Sash makes the 6 hour trip to Grammy's house in WV. She loves it!)

We had a chance for a little chasing and rough housing...much to the grown ups dismay.

This was a favorite of mine.

Country Roads

Almost heaven, west virginia
Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

All my memories gathered round her
Miners lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice
In the mornin hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin down the road I get a feelin
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Take me home, now country roads

I'm spending the Memorial Day weekend in my most favorite place in the world...wild, wonderful West Virginia. Growing up here, my fondest memories are of times I spent with my two older cousins. Now they both have little girls who I just adore. Today my little cousins came over for a big play date in my grandma's back yard. We had a ball.

Miranda and Brandy: I'm so glad that you brought your girls over. It reminds me so much of the three of us when we were little playing at Grandma Dee's house. I love you both very much and miss you always.

I have lots of other family photos that I will post soon, but wanted this one to be a tribute to the little ones in the family who bring so much joy, laughter and happiness.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Mmmmwah! (that's the sound of a big kiss)
