Fricks Lock

2007.08.21

The small community of Fricks lock just turned 250 years old in 2007. They could be celebrating their anniversary, except for one problem. The Philadelphia Energy Company (PECO) was building the Limerick Nuclear Plant in the 1970s, it decided that Fricks Lock wasn't safe to live in. PECO bought the homes and has let them stand dormant. In the 1800's Fricks Lock was a popular port along the Schuylkill river, but now it's basically a ghost town.

mlcwikla In the winter, we can see the tips of those towers from our back yard... The scary part is, we live very close to the line where they deem it safe to live if there should be a problem...my opinion--if it can affect my neighbor, what's going to stop it from affecting us too??....
