Is this the face of an animal prognosticator that believes we're destined for an early spring?

Today is Groundhog Day, and in these parts we rely on our favorite faithful weather predictor, Lil (who is, in fact the bronze statue of a prairie dog), to tell us whether we can expect more winter. The official word is that the lovely Lil was blissfully unaware that prairie dogs even cast shadows, and that means spring is hurrying on its way to us. But in the photo I took, that seems a little doubtful.
