One room schoolhouse

This schoolhouse was built in 1886, two years after my town was incorporated. The story goes that the townspeople were prompted to build the school after the death of a 16-year-old girl who had been sent by her family to Utah to attend school - the nearest education available in 1884 (she and the driver of the wagon in which she was riding were caught in an early October snowstorm over South Pass and froze to death).
The school is used as an ambulance barn today. A pity, I think, after such a noble beginning. (I have no idea why there are concrete steps leading to nothing.)

Interesting - as always. I like the textures and detail of the schoolhouse wall.
Maybe the stairs aren't meant for an entrance. I'm thinking outside the box here. Maybe they are used for people to get on their horse. Long shot... but creative. Yes?
