Bear with me

2008.06.28

Paddling a canoe on the Snake River in Teton National Park you would expect to see a lot of water fowl, deer, buffalo and a moose, perhaps. I did not, however, expect to see a young grizzly bear appear on the bank to my right, sniff the water and then oh-so-casually swim across to the other side. AMAZING!

(Do you know how hard it is to get a good photograph of a swimming bear without getting too close in a wobbly canoe? Very!)

TheBigHush I have the same problem too everytime I spot a swimming bear while kayaking in the Thames... but I've found the best thing to do is to lean to the left when the canoe bears right. (but bad jokes aside... that's a brilliant pic!)
