Thaipusam, Batu Caves.

As an act of faith during the Thaipusam festival that falls on a full moon day in the auspicious 10th Tamil month, several hundred devotees spear their cheeks with long, shiny steel rods - pierce their chests and backs with small, hook-like needles in penance.

In no pain this devotee stands in trance, dancing to the drum beats and trance-inducing rhythms that brings the joyous festival to life.
