Seal Rock..................

2008.03.28
pixel
This ridge of rock border the beach to the west. We have always enjoyed the watching the waves as they crash against these rocks.

Hey Fred which stupid human should we do a fly over on
pixel
Dang Look at all these people......thinking they are going to see seals~~

The park has a wide and long beach for children of all ages to play.

Here you see Elephant Rock in Seal Rock State Park. A large extruded rock of ancient volcanic activity. Another rock lies behind this one and between them a constant wave action has rolled the rocks that fell from Elephant Rock. Those rocks have been polished very smooth.

The tide pool at ......Seal Rock State Park is a wonderful place for kids to see the activity in the pools that are there for your viewing at low tide. When the tide is at low ebb, you can walk almost out to the row of rocks. In the area on the shoreward side of the rocks are other rocks that have many interesting sea creatures to investigate. Read the signs about not harming the creatures and to preserve them for the next person. You can get tide tables from most every establishment on the coast. Plan to get there at low tide if you wish to explore the tide pools..

They have a good paved path that will take you down to the beach and tide pools. Please stay on the path and do not take short cuts because it can cause erosion.
pixel
In the past you could walk up on Seal Rock. But several fatalities occurred and they closed off the rock. Additionally people wandering on the rock greatly disturbed the nests of the aquatic birds. Please do not disturb the nesting birds.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These "Seal rocks" form a ledge of partially submerged rocks in the Pacific Ocean surfline. They extend parallel to the coast for about two and a half miles and a distance of a half mile from the beach. The highest rock rises about 20 feet out of the water. There is one large rock at the shoreline and many smaller ones. The place was called Seal Illahe, Chinook for seal home or seal place.
oldbabe Are you sure you didn't buy postcards and call them your pics? ;-)These are beautiful! Hope you weren't the object of a fly over. No seals at seal rock, though, huh?
