A friend of mine gave me
this link. Then me, Ili and Ahas 'pakat2' to go to this event which was actually a 2-day event, but Ili and I decided to go for the Sunday's event only.
It was held in an exhibition centre called ExCel London (beats me, i've never heard of it before) and comparing to the place where
Mahabba was held, this place is waaaayyyyy more bigger (trust me). Seriously, it was HUGE..!!
If our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the main topic during the Mahabba Unlimited event, this event focused more on Islam in general. Loads of scholars and speakers were invited to give a short speech during this event - Imam Suhaib Webb, Yusuf Estes and Yvonne Ridley to name some - scholars lain tak ingat name plz..ramai sgt!
The main event was held in a really big hall (rasenye kapasitinye boleh mencecah ribu-ribu penonton gak tu) tp kitorg decide utk tidak melepakkan diri dlm main hall sebab setiap speaker cuma diberi 5 minit je utk berucap. So, we decided to go for something else that we thought might be more interesting --> workshop-ing!
We signed up for a few workshops handled by certain scholars (there were 8 workshops, we only had time for 3). Basically in these workshops, scholars were given a specific topic for each of them to "kupas" dgn lebih mendalam in a given time slot. We managed to attend Imam Wahid Pedersen's workshop (donno if the spelling is correct), Imam Suhaib Webb's (tafseer surah al-Fatihah) and Yusuf Estes' (A-Z of The Prophet Muhammad).
The most memorable one? I must say Imam Suhaib Webb's. He actually buat tafsiran yg btol2 cam kelas tafsir la, siap tafsir sepatah-sepatah..series best dan mantap! And he actually acknowledged us (me, Ili and Ahas..and a couple more Malaysians who attended his workshop) just because we're Malaysians..huhu.. (fyi, he is married to a Malaysian...so that's why la die asyik dok "usik-usik" kitorg mase workshop die).
Once he asked all of the people in the room a question (which I can't remember what) and NOBODY answered the question. Then he kept looking at us (the Malaysians) before saying
"Wahai orang-orang yg beriman..."
Yup, the exact same words...
in MALAY..!!
Then he said (to the other people i.e. the non Malaysians in the room) " In case you don't know, i'm actually teasing the Malaysian.."
ZAAPPP...!! Kan dah kne batang idung sendirik...
Huhu, malu..malu..lepas tu baru la ade kedengaran bunyi2 suara menjawab soklan die..
In general, the workshops were great! I felt so blessed to be given a chance to be with such honourable scholars and actually hear them give talks LIVE..!! (ade org tu sampai nk pengsan bile dpt naik lift same dgn Yusuf Estes, kan Ili kan..? =p)
Sblm balik, I bought myself a hoody and a t-shirt from
Islamic Impressions stall. Subhannallah, sumernye cun-cun dan bermesej belaka.
Harapnye akan dapat join lagi event-event camni pd masa akan datang insyaAllah..
To all my frens, daku menyeru diri sendiri dan sahabat-sahabat sekalian utk same-same meluangkan sedikit masa yg kita (masih) ada ni utk mencari ilmu-ilmu yg mungkin universiti kite tak offer pada kita..ilmu-ilmu yg mungkin takde dlm senarai subjek-subjek core mahupon option dlm course yg sedang kite amek kat uni skang..insyaAllah, mase yg sedikit kite luangkan tu takkan Allah sia-siakan begitu sahaja..
