Industrial training..!!

In case u haven’t heard, some of us out here have to do industrial training during our second year summer break.

Basically, being sponsored means that you have to do whatever your sponsor tell you to do and that includes this industrial training. Being sponsored by one of the leading utility companies in Malaysia surely made me feel proud of being one of their scholars and having to do industrial training WITH them surely made me feel so honoured.

Well, at least that was how I felt before I started doing the job.

This time, I juz want to share my experiences during my 3-week industrial training.

“Ala..3 minggu je..sedar-sedar nanti dah habis dah..”. It was some sort of an encouragement from my dad and I kind of agreed with him…at first. Trust me, 3 weeks of what we had seemed so0o0o long at times.

Basically, each one of us had to report for duty at the nearest XXXXX office to our home before we were assigned to engineers or technicians. I live in Sepang but somehow my dad managed to transfer me to do my training in PJ (sebab die keje kat PJ, so senang la nak travel pergi balik). So, I ended up doing my training with Nadia and Ain, whom were the best company ever to do such training with. After reporting, we were assigned to Puchong (situ macam ‘port’ untuk para juruteknik la) to do some maintenance job with the technicians there. Well, we didn’t exactly do anything apart from shadowing the technicians and learn from whatever they were doing.

Here is what our daily routine looked like:

i) Go to work at 8 (I had to go out at 6.30am every morning) just to find out that the pakcik-pakcik didn’t start their work until 10am..!! Can you imagine that..?

So, what do they do between 8 and 10?

Yup, that’s rite..the alltime favourite pastime of Malaysian – makan/minum/lepak. I’ve heard about how Malaysians love to makan/minum/lepak but 2 hours of that? Wow, so much for productivity la kan. I mean, don’t they know that 8 o’clock means 8 o’clock..??

ii) Follow the technicians’ truck from behind with Nadia’s car to go to the ‘scene’. Oh, sometimes we had some…’difficulties’ (such as sesat).

iii) Go for lunch break (yang ni depa tak penah lambat apetah lagi miss).

iv) Go back to work (if any). Kalo takde keje, besenye kami akan disuruh balik oleh depa. We had a few times when we had to take a ride home early because there was nothing to do and sometimes even as early as….erm, 9.30am..?? Huhu..

Untuk Nadia dan Ain, mungkin la balik umah adalah sesuatu yg best sebab memasing mmg dok PJ pon tapi utk aku yg dok Sepang ni..?? Memang menguji kesabaran sungguh la..kalo nk dikire duit yg dihabeskan membli tiket ERL tu, bole kate duit elaun sponsor kasi habes kat situ je..

v) Go back home to write our report that we have to hand in to our sponsor at the end of the 3-week training.

So, that was the routine. Here is the weekly diary of what we did for the 3-week duration of training:

Week 1

Actually, the first week was a very informative one for us considering we had learned a lot of things that are related to our field of study (and inshaAllah our field of work) such as transformer, switch gears, LV, HV, circuit breaker, natonal grid etc..I think by now you shud know what I am studying and who my sponsor is =) (ala, tgk gamba pon boleh tahu).

The only problem with our first week was none other than the people la (pepaham je la, kerja dgn technicians dan pomen, sudah tentu kebanyakannye adalah lelaki).Sampai skang aku tak bole terima yg masih wujud kat luar sana tu manusia-manusia yg melayan kaum Hawa ni dgn cara yg.....senang cakap tak bole diterima akal la. I have to say, sometimes they made us feel like we were living in zaman jahiliyah or something.

I’m not saying all of them are the same..ade je pakcik-pakcik yg sanggup berceramah berulang-ulang kali pada kami yg lembap nak tangkap ilmu ni..ada yg sanggup mengorbankan masa utk mengajar kami padahal depa ade keje lain yg lagi penting nk buat..malah ade yg sanggup berulang-alik menghantar kami ke pencawang dan layan kami macam anak die sendri…

Entahlah, aku dah bunyi macam feminist la plak, tp nk kene cite gak. Ada skali ni, ada sorang technician ni datang ke arah kami bertiga..waktu tu, kami blur-blur lagi, so buat tak layan je kat die. Tetibe, die kuarkan hp die lalu menangkap gambar kitorang guna hp dia sambil cakap “Ala dik, nak buat kenang-kenangan..” sambil member-member die kat blakang dok gelak-gelak lagi tersengih-sengih. Mase tu mmg kalo diikutkan hati nak je aku bukak langkah silat cekak Hanafi yg aku belaja dolu-dolu (maklumla, sesia je la tamat kalo tak praktikkan, ye dok? Huhu..) tapi apakan daya…mase tu terase macam depa takde respek langsung kat kami ni.

I mean, kamon la wahai kaum Adam, cemana nak kami respek kat kaum anda yg patutnya menunjukkan contoh yg baek kpd kaum kami? Kate nak luruskan tulang yg bengkok, perangai camtu nampak gaya sendri yg kene luruskan diri sendri dulu.

But I have to say many thanx to Abang Aiman, Hafiz dan Azrin yg banyak menolong dan mengajar kami yg baru setahun jagung ni. Depa ni je la manusia yg melayan kami dgn baek and we respected them a lot. May Allah reward you guys…amin.

Week 2

The second week was like…nothing…literally. Setiap kali datang keje, kebanyakan keje-keje tepakse dibatalkan atas sebab-sebab yg tak dapat dielakkan. Jadi takde ape sgt nak diceritakan.

Week 3

We were looking forward to this week since we thought we would be given a job in the office instead of ‘turun padang’ again. Tapi apakan daya, we were (again) assigned to shadow a few technicians to do wirings in houses and some other stuff that I barely remember.

Well, I have to say thank you to Abang Nirmal who helped us a lot in understanding the process of err…insulating the cables (sori Bang, tak ingat name proses tu..huhu). Abang Nirmal siap kasi kami buat sendri kerja-kerja menebat kabel tu..memang best dapat wat kerja hands-on ni. Dia siap nk fotostat notes die mase die blaja dulu dan bagi kat kitorang utk rujukan mase depa. Memang terharu..

That was it..our 3-week industrial training that we did last July.

Here are some things that I learned and maybe a few tips for you out there who are considering of doing an industrial training of your own:

i) For some people, card-punching starts at 8 but the real work starts at 10. So, there’s no need for you to go to work as early as we did coz in the end, they will say to you ‘Dik, gi minum dulu la..”.

p/s: Kalo nak tahu maple-maple yg mantap kat PJ tu, bolehla menghubungi kami ber3 since kami dah makan kat byk tmpt dah kat PJ tu.

ii) Biasakanlah diri dgn surau sebab suraulah tempat anda akan berpaling bila takde keje nk dibuat nanti. Pernah beberapa kali kami kene lepak kat surau sementara menunggu kerja diberikan sampai tetido dengan mantapnya sehingga ke tengah hari.

p/s: Kepada yg berkenaan, silalah lengkapkan surau-surau di Malaysia ni dgn air-cond…barulah sedap nak tido..!

iii) Federal Highway menuju ke Puchong jam setiap hari antara pukul 0730-1000 jadi cubalah elakkan dari lalu situ ye (wah, dah macam skuad perodua era pulak aku ni)

iv) Orang XXXXX suka merokok! I think I have to have my lungs checked. Thanx to them, kitorang dah jadi heavy passive smokers yg berjaya.

v) Jika anda adalah seorang kaum Hawa dan bercita-cita nak menjadi seorang engineer, sila la blaja any martial arts yg mantap-mantap utk digunakan bile kerja nanti – trust me, there will be times that you might need to use it =P.

Btol la, tak sumer laki camtu cuma masalahnye depa yg camtu skang ni lebih ramai berbanding dgn yg baek-baek..dgn kate lain makin susah la nak mencari lelaki yg baek-baek skang ni.

Ah, pompuan pon same je sbnarnye. 2x5 (macam lagu Ahli Fikir tu).

vi) Malaysians have bad driving attitudes..!! And when we tried to show some good driving attitudes that we learned in the UK, they honked at us like we were some animals trying to cross the road or something. Aku rase la, kalo mat saleh dtg Malaysia, gerenti depa naik public trasnport je selama depa dok kat Malaysia.

Ah, Malaysia oh tanah air ku..

vii) Roti canai kaya dan roti pisang sodap..!! And coffee doesn’t really work when you are really, really sleepy – ubatnye memang tido je.

So, that’s my side of the story..you can get the rest from either Nadia or Ain (that I’m quite sure they will agree on whatever I’ve written).

Bukannya aku nak salahkan sponsor diatas apa yg berlaku..dan aku bukan jugak menulis utk meluahkan perasaan semata-sama tapi utk kita sesame fikir dan renung sejenak pasal apa yg dah aku ceritakan.

Betullah tu, mende ni mungkin tak berlaku pada sumer company dan tak semua orang seperti yg aku sebutkan tadi. Tapi hakikatnye, sebahagian besar daripada masyarakat kita memang macam tu.

Malas nak buat ulasan panjang-panjang...rasenye kite sumer tahu apa mesej yg penaja ingin sampaikan (tapi takde kereta utk dimenangi ye).

Astaghfirullah…
Astaghfirullah…
Astaghfirullah…

Byk btol cakap kali ni.. jadi musti byk silap..

Sekadar renungan..

Semoga kita tak tergolong dlm golongan yg ‘cakap tak serupa bikin’. Allah pon dah warning dalam As Saff 61:2-3 pasal perkara ni:

O You who have attained to faith! Why do you say one thing and do another?
Most loathsome is it in the sight of God that you say what you do not do!

So, what say you..? =)

p/s: sori tak banyak gamba yg aku ade..
