Isn't She Lovely?

2007.04.27

I love the photographic style of Joe Buissink (famous wedding journalist!) and I wanted to see what I could achieve using the techniques (it seems) he uses for his photos. Now, I am NOWHERE NEAR like Joe Buissink, but he inspires me so much that I thought I would attempt to imitate him.

I usually don't ask for criticism for any specific photo, but if anyone would like to tell me what they think, what they like, what they don't, and so forth and so on about this photo,I would appreciate it. I have to get over being overly sensitive when it comes to my pictures. I tried to give this picture a very dreamlike quality, so if I achieved it, please tell me so!

jorgen The way to make these dreamlike photos is to place the light behind the subject in order to let the light soften round the edges and overexpose one to two EVs to compensate for the high key photo. I think you underexposed a bit, but got an excellent result. Great portrait!

stsanto Just one thought.... get rid of the outer-glowing border, it's so outdated in style. Instead, try put clean sharp solid line. With the strong boundary, your "smoothness" of photo will be more touching.
