Playing with Paint Shop Pro

2008.03.25
Original photo.

First kaleidoscope effect.

Different kaleidoscope effect. (It really looks better when it's enlarged.)

Original photo, of the North Carolina state capitol.

Using PSP's "Time Machine" to make a daguerreotype. (You didn't know they had skyscrapers in the early 1800's, did you?)

Completely lacking inspiration today, so I decided to play with existing photos in Paint Shop Pro. I've been using Photoshop Elements for a couple of years now, but lately I've wanted something more powerful. However, I'm not about to shell out $600 for Photoshop CS3.

Kevin suggested I try Paint Shop Pro, and I love it. It's about the same price as Elements, but much more powerful. These are a couple of things I tried today. There's another technique I've been working on, but it's a bit more difficult, and I haven't found the right image to use for it. If I'm successful, I'll share it. :)

coyoteself Those are all incredible!! Love the flowers and how you manipulated them, neat. But looking at #4, I thought it was a little bland, but what you did to it in #5 really gave it character. Good job
