What a difference you can see in just two weeks! This was taken two weeks ago, when the male finch on the bottom right was just starting to molt into his spring colors.
|
And now, two weeks later, the colors on the males are so much brighter. However, with the warmer weather, they haven't been swarming the feeder. I'm now just seeing a few here and there.
|
However, we're now seeing the return of the house finches. I haven't seen them all winter. Here a male and female enjoy some safflower, while a female cardinal munches away on the other side.

Gorgeous shots. My favorite shot is the red one in #4. Up north I have about eight yellow and green finch that come to my feeders. They are so great to watch.

I love house finches, they're some of the more colorful birds we get in this area. The last photo is nice with him surrounded with dripping branches.

So pretty! I'm looking forward to our finches getting gold again, now that we have them coming to visit. I never knew the little redheads were house finches. I thought they were just a kind of sparrow. I got a nice shot of one of them yesterday that I'll probably use tomorrow.

Great pictures. Love those colorful birds. Most of them around here are still kind of boring color wise.

These are just lovely... I am amazed at how much detail you get in these shots - birds are so hard to capture :) The last shot is gorgeous - birds in the rain are a delight to watch - I used to giggle watching the birds in our backyard during winter washing themselves in the birdbath while it was raining! :)
