Fuchsia ~ 100th Post!

The first time I ever saw fuchsia was on my trip to Ireland in 1996. It was growing wild everywhere we went, and I fell in love with the beautiful, colorful flowers. At the time I had lived all my life in Houston, a climate that is much too hot for fuchsia to survive.

In Ireland, I had no idea what the beautiful flowers were, so I asked a local. He had a good laugh at my question, telling me that he had so much of it in his yard that he could never get rid of it.

I was at Lowe's the other day in the garden shop, and saw rows of hanging baskets filled with fuchsia. I immediately picked one out to take home. Now it lives on my front porch, where I can see it every morning. The ones in Ireland were more red than pink, but I love these just as much.
