I spy a spider's eyes

2008.05.01
Teeny-tiny spider on my Italian parsley. Maybe 1/4 inch long, at the most. It took forever just to get him in front of the lens. I'd turn the plant, and he'd run around to the other side of the leaf. This game went on for about five minutes, until I finally poked near him with a stick. That did the trick - but it was also breezy outside, hence the slightly blurred focus.

He rears up on his hind legs and stares in my direction. He's NOT happy. You can tell by the look on his face.

Very tight crop of the same picture. You can see four of his eyes. "Hey, four eyes!" Heh. Yes, I taunt spiders. I'm easily amused.

MHJphotos =)! Four eyes ... I love it!

Wonderful shots here NCSB! Spiders are amazing little creatures, and you've captured them exquisitely. I imagine the fright this might cause some posters ... but I think these are awesome!

LostAspen lol, love the commentary... You're quite the astute sprider facial expression reader, I've heard that the look they give when they're happy, sad, angry is nearly the same! :-) Great macros, he stands out so well on the parsley.

Beagles3 OMG Ick, spider EXTREME close-up!!! Great photos but you can keep your little friend right there in the Italian Parsley plant thanks. Make sure you wash the parsley before you use it!!

Lindyart that 's amazing ..I don't think I've seen a spider's eye much..I usually run and scream like a girl ;)

oldbabe Ohhhhh, creepy! But a good picture. I'm so used to being around the granddaughters that I almost started singing "itsy bitsy spider"...only he doesn't look so itsy bitsy! They are good for the garden, though!

LastFrontier Good laugh at your commentary. Heh. I wouldn't taunt that guy. It looks too fierce, although this certainly is the first time I've peered so closely at one, or seen one peering back. Well done! Despite the wind.

LotoFoto OMG #3!!!! Great macro!
You are one brave woman!

Peche hehehehe
I love the second shot - the contrast and detail is sooooo stunning... and I detest spiders, but this little man (for the purpose of this comment, spidey is male :P) is really cute! So bumbly... and he likes italian parsley instead of continental, so he has my vote :)
